The Tale of Parvat and Akash
One day, a young seeker named Ananya came to the mountain, seeking wisdom and enlightenment. She had heard tales of Parvat’s wisdom and Akash’s vastness and wanted to understand the deeper truths of existence. Parvat, recognizing her sincere quest, welcomed her warmly.
“To truly understand, you must also look up to the Sky,” Parvat advised. “Akash has seen much more than I have.”
Ananya, eager to learn, decided to inquire from both. She spent her days with Parvat, learning about stability, strength, and the importance of being grounded. Parvat shared stories of ancient times, wisdom passed down through ages, and the significance of staying true to one’s path.
At night, Ananya would gaze at Akash, seeking answers to the infinite questions that filled her mind. Akash, with his boundless perspective, taught her about the vastness of the universe, the interconnectedness of all beings, and the importance of freedom and space in the journey of life.
Rishi Parashara explained to his disciples that the Mountain and the Sky symbolized the dual aspects of seeking wisdom. Just as Ananya approached both to gain a complete understanding, one must seek guidance from a spiritual master and the infinite wisdom of the universe to realize the truth.
Hanuman and the Path of Service
Turning to the Ramayana, Rishi Parashara recounted the story of Hanuman, the devoted servant of Lord Rama, and his unwavering dedication to his master.
The Story of Hanuman’s Devotion
Hanuman, the mighty Vanara, was known for his incredible strength, wisdom, and devotion. When Sita was abducted by Ravana, Hanuman took it upon himself to find her and bring her back to Lord Rama. His journey across the ocean to Lanka was a testament to his determination and loyalty.
Throughout his journey, Hanuman encountered numerous obstacles. From facing the mighty demoness Surasa to battling the powerful guards of Lanka, Hanuman’s unwavering focus on his mission never wavered. His devotion to Lord Rama gave him the strength to overcome all challenges.
Upon finding Sita, Hanuman assured her of Lord Rama’s love and promised to return with him. His selfless service and dedication exemplified the essence of a true devotee. When he returned to Lord Rama with Sita’s message, his humility and gratitude towards his master were evident.
Rishi Parashara emphasized that Hanuman’s story illustrated the importance of serving a spiritual master with devotion and humility. By rendering service and seeking guidance, one can overcome any obstacle and attain the ultimate truth.
Arjuna and the Quest for Knowledge
From the Mahabharata, Rishi Parashara shared the story of Arjuna and his quest for knowledge during the great war of Kurukshetra.
The Teachings of Krishna
Arjuna, the great warrior, found himself in a moral dilemma on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Faced with the prospect of fighting his own kin, he was overwhelmed with doubt and confusion. Seeking guidance, he turned to Lord Krishna, his charioteer and friend.

He taught Arjuna about the nature of duty, the impermanence of the physical body, and the eternal nature of the soul. Through their dialogue, Krishna revealed the path of selfless action, devotion, and the ultimate truth of existence.

One day, a great storm threatened the village. The villagers, in fear, turned to Ananya for guidance. She approached Parvat and Akash for counsel. Parvat advised her to remain steadfast and provide shelter to those in need, while Akash encouraged her to think beyond immediate fears and find a solution that would benefit all.
Inspired by their wisdom, Ananya organized the villagers to reinforce their homes and create shelters on higher ground. She also encouraged them to store food and water, ensuring everyone’s safety. Her actions, guided by the teachings of Parvat and Akash, saved the village from devastation.
Rishi Parashara explained that Ananya’s continued journey illustrated the importance of applying the wisdom gained from a spiritual master and the universe in everyday life. By doing so, one can navigate challenges with clarity and compassion, leading to harmony and prosperity.
Learnings: The Path to Enlightenment
As the stars twinkled in the night sky, Rishi Parashara concluded his storytelling session. He reminded his disciples that the path to enlightenment lay in seeking guidance from a spiritual master with humility and dedication.
He reiterated the profound verse from the Bhagavad Gita: “Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.” By embodying these teachings in their daily lives, they could attain true wisdom and spiritual fulfillment.

paripraśnena sevayā
upadekṣyanti te jñānaṁ
jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥtat—that knowledge of different sacrifices; viddhi—try to understand; praṇipātena—by approaching a spiritual master; paripraśnena—by submissive inquiries; sevayā—by the rendering of service; upadekṣyanti—initiate; te—unto you; jñānam—knowledge; jñāninaḥ—the self-realized; tattva—truth; darśinaḥ—the seers.
